About me:
I hold a PhD in Systems and Modelling from City University, London in which I used waste composition data to estimate the carbon footprint associated with managing UK municipal solid waste (MSW). The thesis is somewhat verbose (as they tend to be!) but if you're interested in the work, I have prepared a summary that can be downloaded here. If the summary has whet your appetite (or you're suffering from insomnia) and want to read the whole text then drop me a line using the contact form below and I'll send you a copy. Other papers that I authored/co-authored can be found on the Repository page.
Skills:
Over the last few years I have developed an interest in non-financial management information (NFMI), in particular environmental, health and safety data. This has detracted from the subject of my PhD, but nevertheless I employ (and embrace!) the underlying systems theory I used to develop my waste management model in managing NFMI. This means ensuring that appropriate levels of control and processes are in place - systems analysis techniques help me to identify and check that all risks are identified and mitigated. I employ VBA programming in Excel to automate checks and balances and simplify control processes.
I also have good working knowledge of the following software: SAP BEx Analyser, Landgem, GasSim,Vensim (system dynamics), Microsoft Excel, Crystal Ball (Monte Carlo Tool) and Matlab. I also have experience in statistical methods and Monte Carlo analysis.

Other interests:
As part of my MEng degree at university I was lucky enough to participate in Formula Student and as a consequence I became a fan of motorsport, particularly F1. During the PhD, I developed and led a karting project for three years at City University, which was aimed at encouraging local young people into the university to dispel any myths that they may have about higher education by introducing them to the engineering aspects of motorsport.
I stay sane teaching myself to play guitar, reading (mostly historical fiction), and cooking.
